While most of you were sleeping peacefully at 1:30 a.m. I was watching a magnificent sunrise over Denmark having flown over Glasgow in the dark. We continued on over Berlin, Hungary, The Czech Republic , and at about 3 am Eastern and 10 am here in Turkey we flew low over the Sea of Marmara and we got our first glimpse of Istanbul with landmarks I immediately recognized.
I was struck once again by how small our world has become. All those places that once seemed so far away and separate are now not only interconnected by commerce and politics but by time. Had we flown another hour we could have reached The Holy Land, and the places so much in the news today.
