Coincidence - new friends

Recently we attended a wonderful Interfaith event.  Before it began we were talking to the two young women in front of us who it turned out to be from Turkey! and currently studying and teaching in Boston.   Fatma at MIT is preparing to teach JAVA and other computer related topics and Feyza is doing her doctorate in Biological Science at BU.

Fatma immediately connected us with her friend, Aslinur, who lives in Istanbul and had just returned there  from Boston.  We hope to meet her when we are in Turkey.

Feyza invited us to an Iftar dinner (the evening meal that breaks the fast in the evenings of Ramadan)  at the Turkish Cultural Center in Boston.

We arrived about 7:30 and were greeted warmly by all there.  At exactly 7:51 pm the fast ended which we broke with water and dates.  Then we shared a meal of meat, rice and salad  and baklava.  All yummy! Our table was filled with young women including Fatma and Feyza.

We learned more of Turkey and also that our English pronunciations of Turkish places needs a lot of work before we will be understood in Turkey!  They were all so warm and gracious.   We look forward to a continuing friendship.
